Jewelry Craft Course: Fundamentals and Modeling Methods. Designing Wax Models for Jewelry.
📌 Goals and Expectations: During the course, participants will learn and practice methods of creating jewelry, mastering the key skills and techniques of hand modeling in wax. This will allow them to design various high-quality models for further casting in precious metals. In addition, each participant will create their own unique jewelry collection.
⏳ Duration: 10 hours over 2 days
📝 Course Program:
Day 1: (2 Lessons)
- Introduction to the course: overview of materials, tools, and basic jewelry modeling methods.
- Developing jewelry design concepts.
- Creating simple models using various jewelry modeling techniques.
🪄Lesson 1:
- Introduction and welcome
- Overview of tools and materials
- Basic principles of working with wax
- Key aspects of jewelry model design
- Sketch development
- Introduction to jewelry-making techniques
🪄Lesson 2:
- Creating the base of a future ring. Basic principles of designing jewelry shapes.
- Detailing the ring using techniques learned in Lesson 1.
- Quality check and finalizing the model.
💍 By the close of the first day, each participant will have crafted their own ring model.
Day 2: (2 Lessons)
- Learning and applying techniques for creating relief details and three-dimensional pieces.
- Creating complex jewelry models.
- Working with small-scale models.
🪄 Lesson 1:
- Designing a bas-relief model for a pendant/brooch and creating a prototype from a soft material.
- Applying the design layout and details onto the work surface.
- Cutting out and separating the elements, considering their spatial arrangement.
- Refining and finishing the details.
- Completing the model.
- Quality check and evaluation of the work.
🪄 Lesson 2:
- Designing a three-dimensional model for a hanging earring/keychain.
- Choosing the appropriate technique for creating the model.
- Building the model from scratch.
- Working on volume and fine details.
- Completing and evaluating the model.
💍 By the close of the second day, each participant will have made a minimum of two models.
